2008 Hog & Ham Schedule

January 21 - Workshop in Gainesville, required for all participants.


-Entries Received

April 14 - Applications for participation due.

April 17 - Agents notified as to participants selected.

May 2-5 - Beginning weigh-in on certified scales in County; take photo of pig for record book.

May 5 - Call Wendy with names of participants completing weigh-in.

May 16 - $65.00 registration fee and projected cost analysis sheet due.

May 5 - August 12 - Feeding period; complete Retail Audit

August 12, Tuesday - Deliver hogs to UF Meats Lab for harvesting.

August 13, Wednesday - Process carcasses at UF

August 14, Thursday - Process carcasses at UF

August 27 - Project Books and Retail Audits with copies of thank you letters are due to county 4-H office.

September 3 - All Project Books and Retail Audits due to Larry Eubanks, University of Florida.

September 13 - Demonstration Day at University of Florida; awards presentation. Pick up cured hams, bellies, and smoked sausage links.
